Applying to Law School

Check our events page to see if UO NALSA is holding an “Applying to Law School/Conquering the LSAT” workshop!

Steps for applying to law school:

  • Register for an account with the Law Schools Admissions Council
  • Take the LSAT! See test dates here – it’s advisable to take the LSAT in October, December or February if you plan to enroll in law school the following academic year. Be sure to check the application deadlines for schools you are applying to! UO’s priority deadline is February 26, 2016.
  • Add applications through LSAC of schools you want to apply to and fill out the required forms – be sure to check if you need letters of recommendations and reach out to professors or past employers who can speak to your abilities within a reasonable time period, as well as order copies of undergraduate (and graduate if applicable) transcripts.
  • Don’t be shy in reaching out to the law school’s admissions office or current students! UO NALSA members are always happy to talk with prospective students (especially Native students) about how to apply to law school – see our Contact Info page or individual member’s emails on the Officers page.
  • Complete the FAFSA! Many law schools have priority deadlines in February and March – be sure to check!
  • Submit your application by the deadline and await decisions! Best of luck!
